Volunteer Opportunities

The Furniture Bank relies on volunteer support to help serve families in need in our community. There are many ways to offer your talent to the Furniture Bank by building furniture, helping in the office, working in the warehouse, or planning and assisting with the many events throughout the year. We are always open to new ideas about using our volunteer talents!

Furniture Assembly

Looking for a great hands-on team-building experience? Thanks to generous donations by Sauder Woodworking, volunteers can work together to assemble, sand, and paint kitchen tables and other furniture items from kits. No experience required - we provide the instructions, tools, and safety equipment!

The Furniture Bank can accommodate furniture assembly groups of up to 10 individuals.

Client Showroom Assistant

Showroom volunteers sort and organize donated items, organize housewares, and help clients select dishes, cookware, and linens. Client Showroom Assistants also help clean and organize furniture.

Office Assistant

Office Assistants help schedule pickups of donated furniture and deliveries of client furniture. Office volunteers also help by preparing donor packets and writing thank you letters to current donors.

Volunteers in this position help repair broken furniture and prepare used furniture for client pickup. Woodshop volunteers also cut lumber and assemble furniture for families.

Volunteer Group Leader

Volunteer Group Leaders assist groups of volunteers who come to the Furniture Bank to assemble furniture or help in other areas in the warehouse and workshop.

Special Events.

Join us as we plan, prepare, and carry out our various special events throughout the year. Our events include furniture auctions, the Big Hearts for Empty Houses gala, and Tables for Thanksgiving.

Spread the Word

Individuals and companies help us connect with clients, donors, and other volunteers. Post Furniture Bank flyers in your home or business, distribute door hangers in your neighborhood, and notify us about speaking opportunities in your community.
